In the professional parlance A lot of twitter is used to make personal brand by people. Previously blogs were used to achieve the same, but the thing with blogs was that it had content. On the other hand twitter lacks the same. You might think a person as a guy with great tweets but that might not be original, might be updates are a collection of really good links. I don't know a lot of people vouch for twitter and find it cool and useful, I guess I am not one of them. I also use twitter and find it nice and fun to do, but I have never found it to be useful.
