Add Font Family Dropdown to Visual Editor

This is a fairly basic plugin and adds a Font family dropdown for selecting fonts.

NOTE: This plugin also removes the “Paste as Plain Text”, “Paste from Word” and “Remove formatting” button for neat layout of Visual Editor, though this is optional.

Pretesh…I’ve also just activated this plug in via wordpress, but it’s not showing up.  Do you know what the problem is?  Perhaps you can offer some suggestions.  It appears many are having problems with your plugin.  Thanks.

I also have a couple of other fonts that I would love to install. If we could do that it would be great. Love the plugin!

I’ve downloaded it too, but it doesn’t show up in the visual editor. It looks like a common problem – if you can share how it was resolved? Thanks much!

Worked well. I use WP 3.2.1. Thank you for creating this simple but usefull extension.

Just a suggestion. You should create a way for users to upload and use their font, and it will be a great plugin (better than others which got complicated way of use).

    Hi,

Great plugin. Is there any way to add new font in the drop down. I need “Century Gothic” to be added in the drop down?

    Thanks
    Moses

I installed it and couldn’t find it at first, then I click on the last icon on the top row of the editor called show the kitchen sink, and then it appeared. I hope that helps. Unfortunately the font that I need, myriad pro, isn’t on the list

  21. Linda May 27, 2012 at 10:38 am #

Thank you Shauli for answering what we all wanted to know about where to find it in the visual editor. It now works for me!

  22. Jack August 20, 2012 at 10:04 pm #

    Hi all.

As Pritesh seems not to want to participate I thought I’d help. For those who want to add their own fonts.

Unzip the file. You will get a .php file. Open this in a text editor. I use a Mac so I use TexyEdit.

Scroll down the file and you will see a list of fonts under the section $init['theme_advanced_fonts'] =

Go to the appropriate place, alphabetically, and enter your font. I added Apple Chancery so I added
    ‘Apple Chancery=apple chancery;’.
don’t worry abouy the extension type of Times or palatino etc. IT is not necessary.

    NOW THIS IS IMPORTANT
You need to zip up the .php file again. On a Mac I simply choose the .php file and select Compress. This will create a new zip file. IT is this new zip file that you want to install on WordPress. You will need to deactivate and delete the previous version.

You can of course delete any fonts from the list that you don’t want and add as many as you want. .

Now I;m not a coder at all but it worked for me. Hope that helps someone.

All the best with your sites for 2013.

Remember, Ying and Yang, help someone, it will come back to you :)

At first the plug-in did not appear for me either. Then I played around in the Visual Editor and clicked on the Show/Hide Kitchen Sink icon (Option+Shift+Z on a Mac) and it appeared.

  26. Dominika March 1, 2013 at 1:10 am #

Also installed it and was excited about the 5 star rating. Unfortunately, the font editor did not show up. (menu/kitchen tray was expanded, etc).

    common problem!

Works great. Not certain this is everyone’s problem, but if you’re also using the TinyMCE Advanced Plugin… You have to go to it’s settings and add the Font Family drop down to TinyMCE (drag and drop it in the active buttons).

  29. sam June 3, 2013 at 9:44 am #

i have deactivated and deleted the plug in yet the darn two font options and size still appear in my visual editor. its causing all kinds of font changes that i dont want. any suggestions

  30. gerrit June 18, 2013 at 6:44 pm #

hi, i installed your plugin and switched the fonts of all posts to verdana. now the site lost its formatting, meaning all posts after the 5th or 6th just left their place and are left or right, and the sidebars switched from being right of the posts and went below the last post… very disappointed. otherwise nice plugin, but i had to remove it now. also, i have no clue how to restore the standard font other than removing the text, opening a new post and do it all over again…

if you can help, please do.
